God Hates Fags? Oh, Really?

Westboro Baptist Church uses kids as propagand...

I feel like I need to rant about something to get this anger inside me out. So this bunch of inbred idiots seems like the right sort of group to deserve my ire today. The Westboro Baptist Church is an organisation so full of hatred that they so often come in for criticism, so I may as well add to it.

A cursory look over their website http://godhatesfags.com just shows you how ridiculously escalated one messed up group of easily persuaded individuals can take just tiny sentences from the Bible (which supposedly gives out the message of peace, would you imagine?!) and misconstrue them to justify lynching of gay people, picketing of funerals of young soldiers who gave their lives fighting for their country in a war they personally didn’t start, and celebrating sick events like that of Norway. It’s absolutely disgusting.

As I’m writing this, I’m looking through the website, I’m having a look through their picketing schedule and found this beauty:

WBC will again picket Lisa Lampanelli (this time at the Uptown Theater) to give her another opportunity to taste the Bread of Life and the Fountain of Living Waters that flow from Mount Zion (aka Westboro Baptist Church) in these last of the last days of this human experience.

This filthy whore visited Topeka recently to peddle her tacky so-called “comedy” wears at the TPAC, where she drew a pitiful crowd of rebels.  She used that opportunity to raise money (if she ever actually paid the money) for the gay men’s (an oxymoron) health.  She thereby showed her contempt for God and His standards.  She also showed that she knows how to use the megaphone God has given her to deliver a message.  Now, she has no excuse when she stands before her creator to give an answer for why she hated her neighbor and refused to warn them to flee God’s wrath.  The blood of every one of her “fans” is on her hands!

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.  (Ezk. 3:18-19.)

So, Lisa, what will you do?  Will you harden your neck in further rebellion?  Or will you heed this warning to put away your filthy manner of life and obey your God?  Remember, your fans are watching, WBC is watching; most importantly, God is watching!  You will give an answer.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.  (Mt. 16:27.)

Since when was it ok for a group of Christians to call a woman who’s doing good for others (isn’t one of the 10 commandments to “love thy neighbour”?) a filthy whore just because she’s raising it for the health of gay men? This isn’t hating your neighbour, it’s trying to help them out because morons like this bunch are making gay people actually need extra health care because they’re being beaten up.

The thing I find most abhorrant though is the fact the children of these fanatics/extremists (that’s what they are) are dragged into the same, messed up way of thinking about the world. That everyone except the members of the WBC are going to be subject to the hellfires, just because they don’t share a viewpoint, or are attracted to someone of the same gender. When I watched Louis Theroux’s documentary about the church, and seeing the children spewing out all of the vile, hatred filled lies their parents had told them, I honestly felt sorry for them. It’s disgusting, these children should be raised like I was, my parents didn’t let their religious views come into my life, they allowed me to go on my own path to discover my own religious views (as it turns out I don’t have any religious affiliation, but I’ve done my soul searching). They weren’t afforded that sort of freedom.

In a way, it’s not all that different to Joseph Kony going around and kidnapping those poor children in Africa, as they didn’t have a choice either, and are fighting for such a messed up cause.

It’s things like this that poison my views on religion, and somehow it’s still governing how some of the world’s most powerful countries are run. If the next president of the USA was to announce himself to be an atheist or a Muslim (after having been elected obviously, the Americans aren’t about to vote in a non-Christian president), there would be such uproar. His or her religion shouldn’t matter, it’s no-one else’s business!

Back to the title of this, when I was going to church as a child, I was taught that God loves all of his children. Surely that includes the gay people, lesbians and people who don’t follow his religious teachings.

If I’m headed for the hell fire, I’m going to enjoy my time on this earth and not waste my time picketing war heroes’ funerals, because it’s not bringing any good into this world. If I’m going to make a difference to the world, I want it to be a positive one, no matter how small it is. Hate just breeds more hate.
